Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are the 'Strikers'
A: We are a Town Travel Soccer Club. We play in the SCSL, a spring league competing in Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. At the coaches discretion team also play in local winter indoor league and local tournaments. We began playing in the fall Cranberry League with some of our Middle School aged players.

Q: When can I register my child for the 'Strikers'  A: the Strikers will be registering players for the spring 2010 season during the first few weeks of the recreational season. Look for us at the Rehoboth and Dighton fields on Saturday mornings or simply fill out a registration form found on this website. Registration information can be here.

Q: When are there tryouts for the teams?                    A: A tryout may be necessary for some of the teams. It will depend on how many register for the team and the number of coaches available for the age groups. The Strikers have always made their best attempt to place  every child that wants to play on a team.

Q: When do the teams play
A: Our teams mainly compete in the SCSL which plays their games in the Spring, starting in early April through  late May. Teams may qualify play for the MTOC in June. Many of our coaches signup the players to play in winter leagues; either playing indoor soccer, turf soccer or futsal. Most teams practice through the winter months in preparation for the season. If there is interest there have been fall season teams playing in the local fall leagues as well.

Q: What is the Cranberry League?                                      A: The Cranberry League was formed a few years ago to allow the Town travel teams to stay together to play a more competitive season in the fall. The league is recognized by MYSA. The league is informal compared to SCSL. There are no standings and the rosters can easily be changed during the season. DRSC requires the 'Strikers' playing in the Cranberry league also be register and play in their town recreational program.

Q: What is Technical Training?                                         A: If there is enough interest DRSC plans to offer a technical training session  for all our players. Training stations will be set up for various activities which will include Shooting, Dribbling/Foot Skills, Passing, Volleying, 1v1 skills, 2v2 skills and speed/strength. The players will be organized in skill groups and work at each station during the evening practice. There will be no additional cost for the training. The day of the week will be determined once the season starts. Contact webmaster@drstrikers.org  if your interested.
